One of the important parts of our mission is to be able to provide access to the platform to students who do not have access to technology. We have found that the best way to do this is to work with schools. Towards this end, we have been working with many Government schools in remote areas of Tamil Nadu. We have been doing this from 2011 which provides us an opportunity to not only reach out, but also to understand the value offered by us to learners.

We have set very high standards for ourselves in evaluating effectiveness of outcomes in every single environment we have worked in. As data from widespread use of the platform becomes available,we will dynamically evaluate and share impact studies.

NMMS scholars

National Means cum Merit Scholarship assessment are for students of Class 8. We have observed that the number of students taking part and clearing the exams have been rising steadily over the years.

2018-19 Performance

The impact of self learning through I wanna learn is monitored very closely at the school. We measure the outcomes of exams conducted in schools – quarterly, half yearly and annual and measure performance improvement.

Taking Ownership

We have observed across institutions the urgency to learn among learners. There have been instances where they come early to school, stay back for a few minutes after school, when there is a free period, learners come into the lab and spend time to acquire skills. Our belief is that we must create an environment where learners can take ownership of learning and we are happy to see that happening.

A happy problem to have…

Working with Government schools, where admissions are on the decline, we have observed post implementation of I wanna learn, Math lab the admissions in schools have gone up in 90% of the schools in the range of 5% to 30%.

We have some amazing feedback from the stake holders on the reasons for having our lab and to how it has benefitted them. I wanna learn was earlier referred to as Karka Math Lab.

Education Officer in one of our labs

 We have officials from the Government visiting schools frequently and when they see our lab, they fall in love with the process and become students. They work like children along with children and provide their feedback and validate the efforts take by I wanna learn team. They also go a step forward and provide details of more schools in which we can implement the program.

 We have our content reviewed by school education department at most of our labs and one thing common that they all have to say is – I wanna learn is a perfect solution towards enhancing learning outcomes.

Become a Contributor

I wanna learn, powered by Altius Foundation, is created to provide good quality online learning resources for every kind of learner.  I wanna learn, is a movement and we believe that wider participation is crucial for the movement to expand both in quality and quantity of content and also to reach to more learners. The current content has be put together by contributors along with a small core team at our end, We are looking for people who believe in the ideology of providing quality content to learners.
Here are a few ways you can contribute to I wanna learn:

1. Review the current content.
2. We are looking at expanding the current topic – Math – to higher classes.
3. Add new topics – like Science, English, Social and expand the offering
4. Take up translation of the platform in to other languages.
5. Refer schools and individuals to I wanna learn.
6. Talk about I wanna learn in social media.
